> ### What is Recurly?
>
> - **Recurly is our subscription and billing provider.**
> When you buy or renew a subscription (Standalone or Azure DevOps), we use Recurly to:
> - process payments
> - manage your subscription (start, renew, cancel, change plan, change quantity)
> - generate receipts
> - **It’s a separate, secure service, not part of our products themselves.**
> Your use of our apps (like ActionableAgile® Analytics) is separate from how your payments are handled.
>
> #### How Recurly Affects Your Experience
>
> - **Purchasing and Renewing**
> - When you go through our purchase flow, you’ll be interacting (directly or indirectly) with Recurly’s hosted pages or APIs to enter payment details and confirm the subscription.
> - Recurly then automatically handles renewals on the schedule you selected.
> - **Receipts**
> - Your receipts are generated in Recurly.
> - These records remain associated with your Recurly account even if you later cancel, so you can still access billing history.
> - **Managing your Subscription**
> Via the Billing Portal you can:
> - update payment information
> - change plans or quantities
> - download invoices
> - cancel or restart a subscription
> - All of this is powered by Recurly behind the scenes.
>
> #### What customer data goes into Recurly?
>
> Recurly stores the data needed to manage your subscription and billing. From the customer-facing view, that typically means:
>
> - **Account and Contact Details**
> - Name and email of the account owner and/or billing contact
> - Company name (if provided)
> - Billing address (for invoices/tax)
> - **Subscription Details**
> - Which product/plan you subscribed to
> - Subscription status (trial, active, cancelled, etc.)
> - Quantities (e.g., number of seats where applicable)
> - Billing frequency and next renewal date
> - **Billing and Payment Details**
> - Payment method details (e.g., card type, expiry, last four digits – the usual PCI-compliant subset)
> - Payment history (successful and failed charges)
> - Receipts, credit notes, and applied discounts/coupons.

> 55 Degrees AB is a Swedish 🇸🇪 company, and our tax authority - Skatteverket - dictates that we must charge local tax to customers that are located within the EU. Thus, we need to know your billing location so we can correctly determine if you’re subject to tax and, if so, which tax rate to charge.
>
> > ℹ️ If you are located within the EU but are a tax exempt entity, you can provide your VAT No. to be marked as exempt from VAT (tax) or to calculate reverse VAT.
>
> > ℹ️ For our customers across the English Channel, you’ll be glad to know that we’re also registered with HMRC in the UK. This means that UK customers who enter their VAT No. also receive the same treatment as their EU counterparts.
>
> As Tax Exemption is a small part of updating your Billing Information, the steps are very similar.

> ### View & Download Receipts
>
> > ℹ️ A note on terminology - *technically,* the automatic email you receive from us whenever a credit card transaction goes through regarding your subscription is labelled as an Invoice by Recurly.
> > ℹ️
> > ℹ️ To avoid confusion with the manual invoicing process we offer for annual customers who pay via wire transfer, we will henceforth refer to Recurly’s *Invoice* as a **Receipt** (which it actually is because it’s generated after payment, and is therefore a *receipt* of payment).
>
> To update your access your receipts, you first need to log in to the Recurly Billing Portal.
>
> - Navigate to the Billing Portal either:
> - In the app, via the Account Settings drop-down in the top-right hand corner select [billing portal] **→** log in

>
> ### Use an Alternative Payee
>
> As we have previously mentioned in this documentation - the User Manager controls licensing, billing and the overall subscription. Any Azure DevOps role can be a User Manager, as they can give up their own seat if not using the tool but that might still be too hands on.
>
> If your company dictates that someone outside of your subscription must handle the billing of the app - we may have the answer.
>
> - Navigate to the Billing Portal either:
> - In the app, via the Account Settings drop-down in the top-right hand corner select [billing portal] **→** log in
> or,
> - Directly at [https://55degrees.recurly.com/](https://55degrees.recurly.com/) **→** log in.
> - Once logged in, head to the top right-hand corner of the Account Management page **→** select [your name].
> - From the drop-down list **→** select [change email].
> - Change the email address to the person who will be handling the billing and subscription.
>
> > ℹ️ After changing the email address, you will no longer receive emails from our billing system regarding the subscription. If you’d prefer to, please reach out to us at [support@55degrees.se](mailto:support@55degrees.se) and ask to be added as a CC on the account.
>
> - Now, have the new billing contact head to [https://55degrees.recurly.com/](https://55degrees.recurly.com/).
> - Select [create an account] **→** a form will appear asking them to enter their email address.
> - Enter the **same** email address you just changed your accounts to.
> - They will now need to follow the instructions to activate the account in the email sent to their inbox.
> - They should now be able to log in to manage the subscription.
>
> Once the new billing user has logged into the account, they can update the* *billing information, claim tax exemption, independently cancel a subscription or view & download invoices.
>
> If they add billing information before the end of the trial, the trial will convert automatically to a paid subscription. If not, once they add billing information, then you can follow the instructions to purchase a subscription from an expired trial.
>
> The new billing contact will be the person who is now responsible for the subscription - except for managing users. That will forever be the remit of the User Manager.
